    Co-Founders Steve and Patti Carson Named Co-Vice Chairmen

    Dave Hewitt Appointed President of Carson-Dellosa Retail Division

    GREENSBORO, N.C., October 1 /CNW/ - Carson-Dellosa Education, a leading
publisher of educational materials and teaching aids, has strengthened its
senior management team, as announced today by Roger Posacki, Chief Operating
Officer.

    Steve Carson and Patti Carson, who co-founded the company 30 years ago,
have been named Co-Vice Chairmen. Dave Hewitt has been appointed President of
Carson-Dellosa Retail Division.

    "The new additions to our senior management team are designed to
strengthen the organization and to better answer the needs of customers and
consumers from both a near term and longer term perspective. This enables us
to build upon an already solid foundation," said Posacki.

    In his newly created position, Steve Carson will work with Roger Posacki
to establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and retailers
that have been - and will remain - vital to the success of Carson-Dellosa.
Patti Carson will continue to be deeply involved in the development of all new
products for the company.

    In his new role as president of Carson-Dellosa Retail Division, Dave
Hewitt oversees sales, marketing and product development, and is responsible
for sales and marketing of Carson-Dellosa products within the dealer, mass
market and specialty channels.

initiatives over the course of his career have substantially improved near
term operating results and positioned companies for future growth," said
Posacki. "His extensive operational experience in brand marketing and sales,

    Hewitt joins Carson-Dellosa Education from Matthews International
Corporation (NASDAQ NMS:MATW), a company with $700 million in worldwide sales
and operations in 10 countries. As president of the company's most profitable
Bronze Division, with $250 million in sales, he was responsible for global
operations in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

    Prior to his tenure at Matthews, Hewitt was group president of General
Binding Corporation (NASDAQ:  GBND). He joined General Binding as president of
the Office Products Group and was promoted to group president after two years.
He also served as president of Revell-Monogram, LLC, and from 1982 to 1998, he
held a number of senior-level management positions including vice president
and general manager of Crayola, LLC, an education and art products company.
Hewitt began his career at Johnson & Johnson.

    Currently a member of the board of directors of LifeSecure, LLC, Hewitt
has been a board member of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) and a guest
lecturer at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and the
University of Illinois at Chicago.
