Carleton University Students' Association to cancel Elephant Man Concert

OTTAWA, Oct. 2 /CNW Telbec/ - The Carleton University Students'
Association firmly commits to the principles of the Stop Murder Music Campaign
and has decided to cancel the Elephant Man concert scheduled for October 4.
"Last Night we hosted a Rock the Vote concert which was a very positive
experience" Said Shelley Melanson, President of the Carleton University
Students' Association "We just couldn't go forward with the show if some
people were going to be uncomfortable by his presence".
Elephant Man and his management team made every attempt to satisfy the
Stop Murder Music Campaign.
"I do want to commend Elephant man and his team for offering to sign the
Reggae Compassionate Act in front of witnesses and renounce his previous views
on homosexuality." Melanson continued, "we thought this was an opportunity to
turn this into a positive event and use it to combat homophobia.
Unfortunately, Stop Murder Music didn't feel this way".
Refunds for those who bought tickets will be available at the point of
sale with proof of purchase.
