    TORONTO, June 2 /CNW/ - Days before its highly anticipated Fall Launch
Presentation on June 4, Canwest today revealed an impressive end-of-season
ratings report card for its entertainment programming.

    "We are thrilled with the performance of all of our channels," commented
Kathy Dore, President, Canwest Broadcasting. "This success reinforces our
leadership position in the television marketplace, and we anticipate even more
good news as we roll out our new schedules in the fall."

    GLOBAL TELEVISION:

    Global now owns half of the Top 10 programs in the key markets of
Vancouver and Calgary, and 4 of the Top 10 in Toronto.

    Most-Watched Entertainment News Program - "Entertainment Tonight Canada"
    beats CTV's ETalk by 17%

    Most-Watched Canadian Series - "Are You Smarter Than A Canadian 5th
    Grader?" beats CTV's Corner Gas by 8%

    Most-Watched New Canadian Drama - "The Guard" beats CBC's The Border by
    44%

    Most-Watched New Canadian Comedy - "'Da Kink In My Hair" beats CBC's
    Sophie by 29% (*)

    With only one broadcast year under its belt, E! continues to build on its
launch momentum, successfully achieving one of its major goals - to captivate
a younger audience. The network's median viewer age has dropped by 3 years in
primetime (from 48 to 45), and dropped an incredible 9 years (from 53 to 44)

    SPECIALTY CHANNELS:

    Canwest's 20 specialty channels have grown their audiences an astounding
13% this season - more than 10 times higher than the industry average.

    Canwest now has 4 of Canada's top 10 analog specialty channels, and 8 of
the top 10 digital channels.

    In fact, Canwest's digital specialty channels now represent an
