EDMONTON, June 25 /CNW/ - Seair Inc. (SDS:TSX Venture Exchange) is
pleased to announce Canfor Pulp and Paper Ltd. has completed the comprehensive
trial and testing of a Seair SA600 system. With the successful conclusion of
the trial, Canfor has acquired the SA600 system and placed an order for a
second, identical, system.
Canfor initially tested and subsequently purchased a Seair SA400 system
in October 2007 at their Taylor, British Columbia mill. In early 2008 a much
larger SA600 system was installed at the Taylor mill for commercial scale
testing in the aeration pond. The objective of the trial was to assess both
the pure aeration effectiveness of the SA600 and the required energy
consumption in a variety of operating conditions.
Craig Thomson, Energy and Environmental Supervisor at the Canfor mill,
states "the Seair SA600 is remarkable. Our mill succeeds when we increase the
frequency and duration of hardwood runs, and since installing the SA600 we've
set multiple hardwood records. Seair's equipment, by very efficiently
maintaining high dissolved oxygen levels in our aeration pond, has been a
major contributor to these record results. We will now be proceeding with a
full measurement and verification ("M&V") study, which we expect to complete
in the next 30 days, to definitively quantify the productivity gains and
energy savings generated by the Seair SA600."
Canfor is using Seair's patented diffusion towers to increase dissolved
oxygen levels in the mill's aeration pond. Ambient air is run through the
diffusion towers to produce a micro-bubble aeration process where the amount
of available oxygen is increased and the aggregate surface area of the oxygen
bubbles is 1,000 times greater than conventional fine bubble diffusion
Harold Kinasewich, Seair's President and CEO, adds "the Canfor
implementation proves Seair has the definitive aeration solution for pulp
mills and other industrial situations involving large aeration ponds. Our
equipment achieves superior results and reduces energy consumption by up to
80% relative to other aeration systems."
Seair is a leading developer of patent-protected diffusion and
sterilization technologies, which allow for the efficient diffusion of gases
into liquids, thereby facilitating numerous applications in a wide variety of
industries, including wastewater treatment, pulp and paper production, food
processing, aquaculture, agriculture/horticulture, sterilization, golf course
irrigation and pond treatment, animal enhancement and oil and gas. Seair's
primary focus is developing and selling equipment that diffuses gases, such as
oxygen, ozone or carbon dioxide, into a liquid, resulting in a supersaturated
solution. The major difference between Seair's and others' diffusion
technologies is Seair's ability to achieve extremely small bubble size, which
in turn allows for the mass transfer of gas to fluid. The result is a stable
condition, where gases remain in solution for extended periods of time,
leading to increased productivity and lower operating costs. Seair provides
diffusion-enhanced portable wastewater treatment plants through its
subsidiary, Seair Septic.
