TORONTO, Sept. 14 /CNW/ - The Canadian Television Fund (CTF) supports the
Canadian Radio and Television Commission's (CRTC) announcement to issue its
decision on the CTF before the end of December, rather than on September 15th,
due to the stated high level of interest generated by the process and the
complexity of the issues.
"The scale and scope of stakeholder responses to the Task Force Report
was exceptional, and we appreciate the considerable efforts behind the more
than 200 submissions," said CTF President Valerie Creighton. The CTF will
continue working on the initiatives outlined in its own response to the CRTC
Task Force Report issued on July 27th of this year to ensure the continued
stability of the Canadian television production industry.
Over the past eleven years, the CTF has contributed 2.5 billion dollars
to support over 4,900 productions. This has resulted in more than 25,000 hours
of high-quality television for Canadians and has triggered more than
8.3 billion dollars in production volume across the country.
