Canadian Standards Association promotes new solutions for sustainable buildings at York University's Schulich Executive Learning Centre



    TORONTO, Nov. 26 /CNW/ - Canadian Standards Association (CSA), a leading
solutions provider and developer of standards and codes, is hosting a two-day
workshop at the Executive Learning Centre, Schulich School of Business, York
University, November 26-27 focussing on the future of sustainable buildings in
Canada.
    The Collaborating on Standards Solutions: Sustainable Buildings in Canada
workshop will begin to establish a common vision for sustainable buildings in
Canada while identifying gaps, as well as issues and challenges that need to
be addressed. Key experts and influencers from diverse sectors will be in
attendance to hear presentations by the Chief Energy Conservation Officer of
Ontario and representatives of the International Initiative for a Sustainable
Built Environment, the Office of Energy Efficiency at Natural Resources
Canada, the ATHENA Sustainable Materials Institute and others to examine how
national standards solutions can help to support sustainable building
transformation.
    "This event is extremely important and timely as it brings a national
perspective to identifying synergies among diverse sectors with an interest in
climate change and sustainable buildings," said John Walter, Vice President,
Standards Development, Canadian Standards Association. "CSA and other
stakeholders believe in the need for a cleaner future as sustainable buildings
encompass environmental, economic, and socio-cultural factors. We hope to
establish a common vision for Canada in which standards are strategically
implemented to achieve long-term benefits for sustainable buildings in Canada,
and worldwide."
