OTTAWA, April 9 /CNW Telbec/ - Today the government announced monies
directed at Canadians currently enrolled in Red Seal apprenticeships through
the Apprenticeship Incentive Grant completion bonus. This is an important step
to ensure the Canadian training system is strong and continues to deliver top
quality talent to industrial worksites Canada wide.
This is an important step in a series of initiatives Prime Minister
Harper has undertaken to assist in building an apprenticeship system that
encourages registration in training programs, completion of curriculum in Red
Seal trades and positive contribution of that workforce to the economy.
Robert R Blakely, Director of Canadian Affairs, for the Canadian Building
Trades says "the apprenticeship system is paramount to producing a first class
workforce coast to coast. We are pleased with this announcement and recognize
the commitment the Prime Minister has shown to developing the Red Seal
program. Given the current economic situation in construction, this is good
news story for the industry. This program meshes nicely with the recent
infrastructure announcements - apprentices in our trades from across Canada
will benefit from this grant.".
