TORONTO, June 4 /CNW/ - More than 400 people gathered today to witness
Canada's most courageous, most creative and most dynamic young leaders be
recognized. The 2008 recipients of Youth in Motion's signature program model-
Top 20 Under 20(TM) were celebrated at a breakfast event, sponsored by Laurier
School of Business and Economics.
Top 20 Under 20(TM), an innovation of Youth in Motion, sponsored by
ING Canada, ING Foundation, Bell Canada and CTVglobemedia is designed to
identify and reward young Canadians who have demonstrated innovation,
achievement and leadership. Other program partners include: The Institute of
Chartered Accountants of Ontario, The Keg Spirit Foundation, Manpower, Right
Management and Starbucks Coffee Company to name a few.
"Youth in Motion is committed to showcasing, young Canadians, from coast
to coast and from all walks of life, who are innovators, leaders and
achievers," says Akela Peoples, President & CEO of Youth in Motion. "The 2008
recipients are an impressive group of young Canadians - they are
entrepreneurs, scientists, social activists, environmentalists and inventors.
It is critical that we profile and share youth-positive stories and with
ongoing financial support, important programs like Top 20 can continue making
youth achievement viral," said Ms. Peoples.

Each Top 20 Under 20 award recipient receives a mentor, who is an Order
of Canada recipient for one school year, a financial award up to $2,000
directed towards their continuing area of study or training, participation in
a Four Day Leadership Summit designed to further enhance their capabilities.
