Canada's Ahmadiyya Muslim Community hosts its 33rd Annual Conference

    MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 26 /CNW/ - On June 26-28, 2009, fifteen thousand
members and special guests of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community are expected to
attend the 33rd Annual Conference to be held at the International Centre,
Mississauga (Derry and Airport Roads). The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, which
is know worldwide for its motto, "Love for All, Hatred for None", has been
hosting such conferences for over a century throughout the world. According to
Mr. Lal Khan Malik, the President of Canada's Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, "The
main purpose of this conference is for every member of the Community and its
guests to obtain spiritual benefits and to become closer to God."
During the conference, papers will be delivered discussing contemporary
religious and cultural issues in light of Islamic teachings, including the
Islamic response to the current global economic crisis and the importance and
relevance of the Holy Qur'an to today's society.
Special guests will include representatives from all levels of
government, including federal and provincial cabinet ministers, mayors,
councilors, as well as representatives of various faith groups, professions,
academia and the media.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a worldwide religious organization that
strives to promote the message of societal peace and harmony as preached by
the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was established in 1889 under divine guidance by
Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) of Qadian, India who claimed to fulfill
the advent of Islam's Masih Ma'ood (Promised Messiah) and Mahdi (Reformer)
whose role it would be to revive the true teachings of Islam and to usher in
the age of its eventual victory and glory through peaceful and loving means, a
task to be ultimately achieved by his Khulafa (Successors). Currently, the
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is lead by his fifth Khalifa, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor
Ahmad. On July 5, 2008, Prime Minister Stephen Harper stated that the
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community represents "the true and benevolent face of Islam"
and referred to its Khalifa as a "champion of peace."
The conference is open to the general public and admission is free. The
program begins at 5 p.m. on June 26, and at 10:30 a.m. on both June 27 and 28.
