VANCOUVER, June 5 /CNW/ - Canada Place Corporation (CPC) today announced
the Canadian Experience Contest - a consumer generated media initiative
whereby Canadians are invited to create a 60-second video illustrating what
they believe makes our country quintessentially Canadian.
"I'm challenging all Canadians to develop videos that will make us laugh,
make us cry and above all, make us proud," said Mike Shardlow, President &
CEO, Canada Place Corporation. "Canada Place is a national icon and home to
one of Canada's largest Canada Day celebrations, and the Canadian Experience
Contest will help us to further celebrate all that is Canada."
The winner of the Canadian Experience Contest will be announced just
prior to Canada Day on June 28 and will receive a trip for two to Vancouver,
two nights hotel accommodation, and $500 in spending money. In addition to the
grand prize, two runner-up prizes of $300 in cash and merchandise will be
awarded. Entries are due by midnight Tuesday, June 19, 2007.
Submissions will be judged on creativity, entertainment value and how
well it depicts a Canadian Experience by a panel of judges assembled by CPC.
Videos may include sound but should also be easy to interpret without.
Monologues or voiceovers explaining a Canadian Experience are advised against
while activities demonstrating a Canadian Experience are encouraged.
