Campbell's Soups with Less Salt Give Canadians Choice and Satisfying Taste



    TORONTO, April 17 /CNW/ - Canadians trying to eat foods with less salt
can count on Campbell's(R) to help make a healthier choice an easier choice,
now with 25 Campbell's(R) soups that carry the Health Check(TM) symbol.
Campbell is using a lower sodium sea salt, flavouring with herbs and spices,
and specialized blending techniques to bring sodium levels down while
maintaining great taste.

    This past January, Campbell proudly joined the Heart and Stroke
Foundation Health Check program, bringing to life a commitment to help
Canadians make smart and healthy food choices more easily. Each product
participating in the Health Check program is evaluated by dietitians and must
meet specific criteria based on Canada's Food Guide, including lower fat and
sodium levels, and overall nutritional value.
    The Campbell products that carry the Health Check symbol, including the
ever popular icon brand Campbell's(R) Tomato soup, represent a breakthrough in
the company's ongoing focus to reduce sodium while delivering on taste
expectations.
    Look in stores now for selected Campbell products that now carry the
Health Check symbol including: Campbell's(R) Healthy Request(R) soups,
Campbell's(R) Tomato and Vegetable condensed soups, Campbell's(R) Gardennay(R)
soups, Campbell's(R) Soup at Hand(R) sippable soups, the full V8(R) vegetable
cocktail line (including a low sodium offering) and Prego(R) pasta sauce
line-up.
    The company also confirmed ongoing sodium reduction efforts to offer even
more choice for Canadians, and with 15 more soups carrying the Health Check
symbol available by the end of the year, Campbell will have up to 40 varieties
available with Health Check.
    In addition to the products participating in the Health Check program,
Campbell also recently introduced a new line of Campbell's(R) Low Sodium
soups, specially formulated for people on sodium-restricted diets. The
specialty products are available in Tomato and Chicken Noodle offerings, with
just 35 mg - 50 mg of sodium per 198 mL serving. The products are available by
