Calgary's Mustard Seed Street Ministry Gets Boost from Alberta Energy Savings to Provide Meals to Calgary's Less Fortunate

    CALGARY, March 14 /CNW/ - A $10,000 donation from Alberta Energy Savings,
an Energy Savings Group company, will help the Mustard Seed Street Ministry
provide thousands of meals to people in need in Calgary.
The Mustard Seed Street Ministry provides lunch to an average of 400 -
550 people each day and dinner to between 500 - 650 people, says
Diana Schwenk, Development Officer for the Mustard Seed Street Ministry.
"It costs us about $2.62 to produce a meal for someone in need here in
Calgary, so this donation will allow us to provide more than 3,800 much-needed
meals."
The donation from Alberta Energy Savings is part of the Energy Savings
Group's Fund for Warmth program, which supports community-based initiatives
that help individuals in need of assistance.
"The Mustard Seed Street Ministry does a terrific job, and we know the
warmth and energy from a hot meal is greatly appreciated by the homeless and
less fortunate in Calgary," said Ken Hartwick, President and Co-CEO,
Energy Savings Group.
