TORONTO, Nov. 28 /CNW/ - Medworxx, the makers of a strategic software
platform that hospitals use to communicate, aggregate, and analyze knowledge,
is pleased to announce that Calgary Health Region has chosen their Utilization
Management System to improve patient flow across the region, with the initial
deployment at the Foothills Medical Centre. Calgary Health Region joins
Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and the New Brunswick Department of Health
in implementing the Medworxx Utilization Management System (UMS) region-wide.
"The stress on hospitals in the Calgary Health Region has been increasing
as the population grows", said Bill Trafford, VP Advanced Technology, Calgary
Health Region. "Implementing the Medworxx Utilization Management System will
provide us with the ability to assess, monitor and assist in optimizing the
utilization of our urban acute care facilities.
"Medworxx is thrilled to have the Calgary Health region join our growing
family of customers", said Dan Matlow, President & CEO, Medworxx. "Medworxx
has had success with regional implementations of our UMS and we look forward
to helping Calgary Health Region improve patient flow, first at Foothills, and
then across the region. Medworxx is well positioned to take advantage of the
opportunity in the healthcare marketplace as more regionalization of
healthcare organizations takes place. Our software application and the
surrounding best practices continue to evolve through our experience with and
feedback from our customers."
The initial agreement is a five year term valued at approximately
$500,000. The Calgary Health Region will review expanding the Medworxx system
to its other urban facilities in the near future.
