Calgary Cares 2008 Swings to the beat of the Sweet 70's

CALGARY, Jan. 29 /CNW/ - The much anticipated event is back! Calgary
Cares 2008, Sweet 70's, will offer an exhilarating evening in support of AIDS
Calgary's HIV/AIDS awareness, education, prevention, and support programs.
Calgary Cares is about breaking down walls, and exceeding people's
expectations. The award winning event has pushed the limits to display bold
creativity, and a high standard for which we are proud.
Calgary Cares 2008, Sweet 70's, will be an evening packed with music,
theatre, dance, and fashion in support of HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention.
This year, the elaborate gala will include energetic music, exhilarating dance
performances, a silent art auction and more, all to the swinging sounds of the
Sweet 70's. The event brings together a wide cross section of the Calgary
community including CEO's, students, heterosexuals, homosexuals, drag queens,
single and married, young and old. The goal of the event is to break down the
barriers surrounding the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS.
This year, we are pleased to announce a unique new partnership with
Bullfrog Power. Calgary Cares 2008 will be bullfrogpowered with 100% green
electricity. This means that Bullfrog Power will inject carbon-free green
power onto the Alberta grid to match the amount of electricity used by this
event. All of the electricity injected on our behalf will be sourced
exclusively from producers who meet or exceed the federal government's
EcoLogo(M) standard for renewable energy. Choosing green, carbon-free power is
an easy way for homes, businesses and organizations to help fight climate
change and create a healthier environment for future generations. For more
information on Bullfrog Power, please visit their website at
www.bullfrogpower.com.
Proceeds from Calgary Cares allow AIDS Calgary to provide programs and
services for people at-risk for, living with and affected by HIV/AIDS, as well
as education, outreach and prevention initiatives in the Calgary area.
Returning to the popular EPCOR CENTRE'S Jack Singer Concert Hall, Calgary
Cares will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available
