Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec acquires shares of Nova Chemicals Corporation



    MONTREAL, Oct. 9 /CNW Telbec/ - The Caisse de dépôt et placement du
Québec (the "Caisse") announces that it has acquired, on the Toronto Stock
Exchange, 42,000 common shares of Nova Chemical Corp (TSX:NCX) ("Nova") or
0.05% of such shares outstanding at a price of CDN $18.66 per share.
    Before this transaction, Caisse held 8,037,476 common shares of Nova as
well as 2,500 options to acquire 250,000 common shares of Nova (the "Options")
at an exercise price of CDN $25 per share, on or before January 16, 2009.
    Following this transaction, and if the Caisse were to exercise the
Options that it holds, the total number of Nova common shares that it would
own would be 8,329,476, or 10.02% of such shares outstanding on a partially
diluted basis.
    This transaction was made for investment purposes and the Caisse could
increase or reduce its investment in Nova according to market conditions or
other relevant factors.
