QUEBEC, April 20 /CNW Telbec/ - CAA-Quebec is exceedingly proud to
announce today that it has reached a significant milestone in its history:
just a few hours ago, it became one of the few Quebec-based organizations to
pass the mythical one-million-member mark. In fact, more than one in four
motor vehicles in the province is now driven by a CAA-Quebec member!
A symbolic achievement
"Above all, we are proud of what this landmark represents," explains Paul
A. Pelletier, the organization's President and CEO. "One million people
placing their trust in us is quite an achievement-symbolic of our relevance,
our ability to grow, our innovations, as well as the high standards of quality
that we have upheld throughout our history. Keeping that momentum going is a
huge challenge that we will be working hard to meet, starting now! At the same
time, we very much intend to celebrate this momentous occasion with our
Faster than expected
CAA-Quebec had seen its membership ranks swell impressively over the past
two years, and even had to revise the date on which it initially expected to
hit the one million mark. It was originally forecast to be sometime in ...
2010. But its members were ahead of the game!
100,000 members in the first 71 years; 900,000 more over the next 34...
The surge in CAA-Quebec's ranks has come particularly in the past few
decades, no doubt because membership has kept pace with the growth of the
province's automobile population. Founded in 1904, the organization reached
the 100,000-member mark in 1975. Since that date, though, membership has
skyrocketed, reaching 250,000 by 1983, 500,000 by 1989, and 750,000 by 2003.
"And to think that some 'experts' predicted our decline sometime during
the 1990s, when the automakers began offering roadside assistance!" Mr.
Pelletier exclaims. "They failed to take into account our unique value
proposition: the peace of mind that CAA-Quebec succeeds in providing."
A never-ending story
CAA-Quebec views the future with confidence and will keep defending its
members' interests. In recent years it has implemented a variety of processes
to ensure that it continues to provide outstanding service to each and every
one of its members. And in terms of corporate citizenship, it has been ahead
of its time, having long ago committed to sustainable development objectives.
"Our story will go on for a long while yet," Mr. Pelletier predicts.
"CAA-Quebec intends to remain an organization very much of its time, and a
vital part of our members' daily lives."
CAA-Quebec, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1904, provides
automotive, travel, residential and financial services, benefits and
privileges to its 1,000,000 members.
