Construction expected to begin in May

TORONTO, March 21 /CNW/ - Trillium Health Centre and Infrastructure
Ontario have selected EllisDon Corporation to build and finance the expansion
and redevelopment of Trillium Health Centre's Mississauga and West Toronto
locations.
"We're very pleased that a building team has been selected, paving the
way for construction to begin," said Public Infrastructure Renewal Minister
David Caplan. "This project demonstrates that our government is fulfilling its
commitment to modernize Ontario hospitals and stimulate economic growth."
"Modernizing Ontario's hospital infrastructure is an integral part of
improving our health care system," said George Smitherman, Minister of Health
and Long-Term Care. "Our investment will provide facilities that are modern,
well-maintained, safe and comfortable for patients."
The building team, led by EllisDon Corporation, also includes financing
arranged by RBC Capital Markets.
"I am very proud of the Trillium Health Centre's major expansion and
redevelopment projects that will provide increased access and further benefits
to the families living in Etobicoke-Lakeshore," said Laurel Broten, MPP for
Etobicoke-Lakeshore. "These local projects will not only benefit the entire
community, but they also serve as an example of our government's commitment to
keeping all Ontarians healthy now and well into the future."
"Trillium is our regional cardiac centre. With seniors being
Mississauga's fastest-growing demographic, this project will bring care closer
to home for patients, and ease the stress on families," said Bob Delaney, MPP
for Mississauga West.

The Trillium Health Centre - Mississauga project includes:
    - a new cardiac catheterization lab
    - an operating room for cardiac surgery
    - additional cardiovascular intensive care beds
    - additional coronary care beds
    - diagnostic and support services for an increase of up to 135
        inpatient beds.

    - redevelopment and expansion of the Urgent Care Centre

Trillium history - is about to begin," said new Trillium Health Centre
President and Chief Executive Officer Janet Davidson. "These changes will play
a large role in moving us closer to Trillium's goal of transforming the health
care experience for our patients."
Infrastructure Ontario will work with Trillium Health Centre to redevelop
the hospital, which will remain publicly owned, publicly controlled and
publicly accountable. Infrastructure Ontario is a Crown corporation dedicated
to managing some of the province's larger and more complex infrastructure
renewal projects - ensuring they are built on time and on budget.
This project is guided by principles outlined in the Province's Building
a Better Tomorrow framework, which ensures public ownership of core assets
such as hospitals, schools, and water and wastewater facilities. The Trillium
Health Centre project is one of many infrastructure projects being upgraded
and modernized under ReNew Ontario, the government's five-year, $30-billion
plus public infrastructure investment plan.
