TORONTO, June 6 /CNW/ - Building on last year's success,
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Canada will once again hold its annual Green Week
from June 9 to 13. This year over 250 PwC staff and partners will participate
in 10 unique day-long environmental events across the country. From Halifax,
Nova Scotia to Vancouver, British Columbia, teams of up to 50 PwC volunteers
will help better their communities by doing activities such as tree planting,
watershed improvement and invasive plant removal.
PwC's Canadian Senior Partner and CEO, Chris Clark will be part of the
kick-off event in Toronto with Evergreen, a non-profit organization which aims
to bring communities and nature together for the benefit of both. Clark says
that, "The environment is an important issue for all Canadians and
environmental concerns now rank high on the corporate, government and public
agendas. Concerns over climate change, air and water quality, energy supply
and biodiversity have become more pronounced among our clients and our people.
As a business in today's society, we have an obligation to manage our
activities in a manner that embraces environmental responsibility."
Since the launch of the first year of PwC's three-year Environmental
Action Plan (EAP) last spring, the firm has been working on a number of
initiatives to turn environmental best practices into every day practice. To
date the firm has succeeded in completing a carbon footprint inventory,
developing supplier procurement policies and establishing an Environmental
Network of local committees for staff and partners to get involved-a strong
foundation on which to build our EAP over the coming years.
PricewaterhouseCoopers (www.pwc.com) provides industry-focused assurance,
