Bruce Power's success in Turkey will create benefits for Canadian companies

Organization of CANDU Industries fully supports bid

PICKERING, ON, Aug. 26 /CNW/ - A successful bid by Bruce Power for a new
nuclear power plant in Turkey will create thousands of jobs in Canada and
generate millions of dollars in revenues for OCI member companies. Bruce
Power's initiative is yet another example of Canada's leadership in the global
nuclear industry and the many opportunities available to Canada thanks to the
growth in demand for nuclear power. All of OCI member companies stand ready to
support Bruce Power should it succeed.
"Nuclear power is a multi-billion industry in Canada and we are leaders
on the world stage thanks to our unique CANDU technology and our fully
mobilized supply chain," says OCI President and CEO Dr. Neil Alexander. "On
behalf of all OCI member companies, I applaud Bruce Power's bid and commit to
maintaining our impeccable reputation of delivering parts and services
consistently on-time and on-budget."
The opportunity in Turkey is another example of the dramatic expansion
taking place in the nuclear industry as countries around the world see nuclear
power as a reliable source of safe electricity that has virtually no effect on
climate change.
"Canada's fully mobilized supply chain is ready to contribute to the
success of Bruce Power and its consortium partners," says Dr. Alexander. "We
are very proud to be able to continue to support and contribute to Canada's
leadership on the world stage in the vibrant and growing world-wide nuclear
industry."
