Broadcasting Consortium to hold Election Debate draws at National Press Theatre in Ottawa, September 19, 2008



    OTTAWA, Sept. 19 /CNW/ - The draws to determine the order in which the
opening and closing statements of the leaders will be made, seating
arrangements, and other logistical details for each of the upcoming two
televised federal election debates will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008,
at 1:00 p.m. in the National Press Theatre in Ottawa (150 Wellington Street,
Ottawa).
    Representatives from each of the five federal political parties
participating in the debates will be in attendance. Media are invited to
attend the proceedings.
    The French language debate will be held at the National Arts Centre in
Ottawa on Wednesday, October 1st, from 8 to 10 p.m. EDT. The moderator will be
Stephan Bureau, a journalist and host.
    The English language debate will follow the next evening, October 2nd, at
the National Arts Centre in Ottawa from 9 to 11 p.m. EDT. The moderator will
be Steve Paikin of TVO.
    The debates will be broadcast live by a consortium representing Canada's
largest English and French Television networks: CBC, Radio-Canada, CTV, Global
and TVA.
