Open Tournament Format Allows General Public to Compete for World Title
TORONTO, Oct. 5 /CNW/ - The World Rock Paper Scissors Society
(www.worldrps.com) is pleased to announce that the 2007 Rock Paper Scissors
International World Championships will take place in Toronto on Saturday,
October 13th, 2007. The event provides the unique opportunity for members of
the general public to compete at the highest level of this growing sport
against the world's premier professional level Rock Paper Scissors (RPS)
players. Players will compete for the prestigious title of World Champion, the
Trophy and a total purse of $10,000 CDN.
The 2006 World RPS Championships brought over 1,000 competitors and
spectators from around the world to Toronto. All RPS players over 19 years of
age are invited to compete.
"The current World Champion Bob Cooper of London, England will be
defending his title against players from Australia, New Zealand, Norway,
Singapore, U.S. and Canada," said Graham Walker, Events Chairman, World RPS
Society. "What other sport provides you with the opportunity to come out of
nowhere and leave as a World Champion?"
The Championships will take place at the Steam Whistle Brewery, The
Roundhouse, 255 Bremner Blvd, Toronto, Ontario.
Doors open at 7:00 p.m, and play begins at 8:00 p.m. sharp. Attendees can
purchase their tickets in advance at www.worldrps.com, or at the door.
Competitor tickets are $40.00 CDN; spectator tickets are $12.00 CDN in
Rock Paper Scissors, the feature-length documentary behind the World RPS
