Company is outsourcing pallet supply to concentrate on baking
LACHINE, QC, Dec. 11 /CNW/ - Boulart Inc., a leading frozen artisan
bakery manufacturer, today announced it is joining the CHEP pallet pool. The
company is now shipping its Boulart premium bread products from its facility
here to supermarkets, club stores and foodservice operations across Canada on
pallets from CHEP, the global leader in equipment pooling solutions.
Prior to deploying the CHEP program, Boulart used an exchange pallet
system but wanted to concentrate on its core business of making frozen baked
goods. The company also wanted to improve pallet quality and consistency and
control shipping costs.
"The CHEP pallet pool allows us to confidently outsource a function that
we add little if any value to, and helps ensure that our customers receive our
products without any problems," said Marc Gosselin, Vice-President, Boulart.
The bakery industry, both frozen and in-store bake off, is a rapidly
growing segment of the global consumer packaged goods industry, and holds
significant opportunities for CHEP.
"Frozen baked bread isn't the first product a supply chain manager would
think of for transport in a pallet pool, but Boulart is showing that a solid,
high quality platform makes a critical difference in getting these kinds of
goods to market quickly and effectively. CHEP is doing its part to provide the
outsourcing functionality that allows Boulart to devote mindshare solely to
what it does best - bake and sell bread," said Jason Adlam, Director, Sales
and Customer Service, CHEP Canada.
Boulart, based in Lachine, Quebec, is a state of the art "Artisan Frozen
Bakery" serving retailer and restaurant operators throughout Canadian and soon
the US markets with frozen-baked bread and rolls. Additional information is
