Bouchard-Taylor Commission - A regional citizens' forum and an additional half-day of hearings scheduled in Québec City



    MONTREAL, Oct. 23 /CNW Telbec/ - To enable as many participants as
possible to express themselves in the Capitale-Nationale region, the
Consultation Commission on Accommodation Practices Related to Cultural
Differences (CCPARDC) has added a half-day of hearings in Québec City on
Monday, October 29, 2007 and a second regional citizens' forum on Tuesday,
October 30, in response to the large number of registration requests that the
Commission has received.
    Some 470 individuals have registered for the citizens' forum and the
Commission will divide them into two groups, on October 29 and October 30.
Registered participants will be notified by e-mail of the date assigned to
them. Registration for the forum is closed.

    Here is the new timetable for the Commission's sessions in Québec City:

    
    Monday, October 29      Hearings           - 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
                                                 (additional session)
                            Citizens' forum    - 7:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.

    Tuesday, October 30     Hearings           - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
                            Citizens' forum    - 7:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.
                                                 (additional session)

    Wednesday, October 31   Hearings           - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    

    The Commission

    The CCAPRCD, co-chaired by sociologist and historian Gérard Bouchard and
philosopher Charles Taylor, has been asked to take stock of accommodation
practices and analyse all facets of the question by conducting a province-wide
public consultation. The Commission will submit a report and make
recommendations to the Québec Premier on March 31, 2008
