Record sales month for BMW and MINI
WHITBY, ON, July 2 /CNW/ - BMW Group Canada reported today a new monthly
sales record of 3,564 units. Sales of BMW and MINI vehicles increased 12.0% in
June compared to June 2007. Year-to-date BMW and MINI sales are 14,186 units,
an increase of 6 units or 0.2% over the same period last year.
The BMW brand celebrated best ever monthly sales. In June, 2,943 BMWs
were retailed, an increase of 6.3% over last June. BMW year-to-date sales are
11,835 units, slightly down by 3.5% compared to last year.
"Sales of the BMW 1 Series were even better than we expected; we sold
348 BMW 1 Series vehicles in June," said Lindsay Duffield, President and CEO,
BMW Group Canada. "These strong figures show that the Canadian market was
ready for a compact BMW."
Total Pre-Owned BMW sales were 850 units in June, down 5.4%. Of those
850 units, 680 units were BMW Certified Series Pre-Owned vehicles, a decrease
of 7.1% compared to June 2007. Year-to-date BMW Certified Pre-Owned sales are
up 4.6% to 3,525 units compared to the same period last year. Total
year-to-date Pre-Owned sales are 4,253 units, down 4.8%.
BMW Motorrad Canada set a new June sales record with 205 units sold, up
1.0% compared to the same month the previous year. Year-to-date, Motorrad has
retailed 939 units, down 4.7% from last year.
MINI Canada set a new best ever monthly sales record. Sales of MINI were
up 50.4% in June to 621 units. MINI has retailed 2,351 units in Canada
year-to-date, an increase of 24.0% compared to the same period last year.
Year-to-date, MINI Next Certified Pre-Owned saw a 42.9% increase in sales
to 273 units. Year-to-date total MINI Pre-Owned sales are 447 MINIs, up 43.7%
compared to the same period last year. MINI Next Certified Pre-Owned sales
were 58 units in June, up 10.8% from June 2007. Total MINI Pre-Owned sales
were 93 units for June, a decrease of 16.2%.
