All-time best sales year for all BMW Group brands in Canada.
WHITBY, ON, Jan. 3 /CNW/ - BMW Group Canada announced today a new annual
sales record of 27,734 vehicles (BMW and MINI brands combined) in 2007, an
increase of 18.4% over 2006 sales. For the month of December, sales were up
31.1% over December 2006, retailing 2,417 BMW and MINI vehicles.
BMW Brand: Sales of BMW brand automobiles up 20% in 2007 to a new record
The BMW brand sold a record 24,031 units in 2007, which represents a
sales increase of 20.0% over 2006.
Retails of the BMW 3 Series Cabriolet, voted "Best New Convertible" for
2008 by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC), increased
201.7% over 2006, retailing 1,623 units in 2007.
BMW 3 Series Coupé, voted "Best New Sports Performance Car over $50,000"
for 2007 by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) sales
increased 125.9% over 2006, retailing 2,544 units in 2007.
The BMW X5 Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) retails for 2007 was 4,075
units, an increase of 88.8% over 2006.
BMW experienced its best ever December sales with an increase of 41.5%
over December 2006 to 2,131 BMWs sold. Despite the winter weather, sales of
the award-winning 3 Series Cabriolet increased 727.3% in December compared to
BMW Motorrad Canada also celebrated its best sales year in history,
achieving 1,627 BMW Motorcycle retails in 2007, for an increase of 35.6% over
2006 sales. In December, 102 BMW motorcycles were retailed in the Canadian
market, an increase of 264.3% over December 2006.
BMW Canada Pre-Owned enjoyed its best-ever year with a sales increase of
7.0% for 2007 compared to 2006. A total of 8,508 BMW Pre-Owned vehicles were
sold in 2007, of which 6,373 units were BMW Certified Series Pre-Owned
vehicles, an increase of 15.6% over last year.
December BMW Pre-Owned sales in Canada increased 8.1% to 588 units, with
461 of those units being BMW Certified Series Pre-Owned vehicles, an increase
of 28.8% over December 2006.
MINI Brand: MINI has set sales records every year since Canadian
MINI Canada achieved its sixth consecutive year of best-ever sales for
2007. MINI has set a sales record every year since the MINI launch in 2002.
During the year, MINI broke monthly sales records in 8 of the 12 months. In
2007, MINI sales increased 8.6% over 2006 to a record setting 3,703 units.
MINI December sales were 286 units, a 15.1% decrease over December 2007.
Sales of the MINI Cooper hatchback in 2007 increased 11.6% compared to
2006 sales. The MINI Cooper S was voted "Best New Sports / Performance Car"
under $50,000 by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) for
2008. The fuel-sipping MINI Cooper qualifies for the $1000 ecoAUTO government
rebate when equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission.
Sales of MINI Next certified Pre-Owned vehicles were up 5.44% to 349
units in 2007 compared to 2006. Total MINI Pre-owned sales were slightly down
7.8% to 578 units. December MINI Next certified Pre-Owned vehicles sales was
19 units, up 18.8% over December 2006 and total December MINI Pre-Owned sales
were down 26.5% to 25 units.
