BMO's Charlottetown Branch Celebrates 100th Anniversary

Donates $1,000 to Local Food Bank

CHARLOTTETOWN, Nov. 27 /CNW/ - BMO Bank of Montreal officially celebrates
the 100th anniversary of its Charlottetown Branch on November 14. The branch
employees will be celebrating with a customer appreciation day on Wednesday,
November 28. Customers and members of the community are welcome to come out
and socialize with friends and neighbours while enjoying complimentary coffee
and desserts.
"We want to acknowledge and thank our customers for their long standing
support. We are proud to have contributed to the community and everyday lives
of citizens in Charlottetown over the past century. We look forward to the
continuation of providing our customers with the clarity they need to meet
their financial goals," said Mike May, Branch Manager.
In 1903, The Bank of Montreal expanded its operations in the Maritime
Provinces by acquiring the Exchange Bank of Yarmouth, N.S. Two years later the
bank purchased the People's Bank of Halifax with 26 branches and in 1907 the
People's Bank of New Brunswick was also acquired. With the opening of the main
branch in Charlottetown, PEI in 1907, BMO had representation in every major
Maritime centre.
"The Charlottetown branch opening was an important link in the bank's
history as it signalled the achievement of the bank's steady increase of its
presence from coast to coast," said Carolyn Booth, VP New Brunswick and Prince
Edward Island, BMO Bank of Montreal. "At BMO Bank of Montreal we are committed
to meeting the constantly evolving needs of our customers and offering them a
broad range of banking and highly specialized financial services and
integrated financial solutions, just as we have done for the past 100 years,"
added Ms. Booth.
BMO has a long history of community support in Charlottetown and is
marking its century long commitment with a fun filled customer appreciation
day and a cheque donation of $1,000 to the local food bank.
