Bluewater Occasional Teachers Sign Tentative Agreement

TORONTO, April 19 /CNW/ - Elementary public occasional teachers, members
of the Bluewater Occasional Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers'
Federation of Ontario (ETFO), have reached a tentative collective agreement
with the Bluewater District School Board.
"This is an important agreement for Bluewater occasional teachers.
They're getting the working conditions they deserve, which will lead to better
learning conditions for elementary students," said ETFO President David Clegg.
"Occasional teachers are fully qualified teachers certified by the
College of Teachers. This new agreement recognizes the experience and the
qualifications that my members bring to the job each and every day," Clegg
said.
"Our team negotiated a good agreement. I look forward to implementing the
new changes to the contract," said Kathy McCarrel, President of the ETFO
Bluewater Occasional Teacher Local.
Details of the agreement will be available following a ratification vote
later this month.
The Bluewater Occasional Teacher Local represents approximately 380
occasional teachers. Their contract expired August 31, 2008.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
