Blue Jays sign trio



    TORONTO, Jan. 2 /CNW/ - The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have signed RHP LANCE
CARTER, LHP JOHN PARRISH and LHP RYAN KETCHNER to minor league contracts with
invites to attend major league spring training.
    CARTER, 33, spent last season with the Orix Buffaloes in Japan, posting a
3-5 record with a 4.48 ERA in 34 games. The Bradenton, Florida native has
spent six seasons in the Major Leagues, with Kansas City (1999), Tampa Bay
(2002-05) and Los Angeles Dodgers (2006). The 6-1, 190 lb. right-hander holds
a career 13-12 record with an ERA of 4.15 in 181 games, all in relief.
    PARRISH, 30, posted a 2-2 record with a 5.71 ERA for Baltimore and
Seattle last season in 53 relief appearances. The Lancaster, Pennsylvania
native is a veteran of six big league seasons, all with the Orioles prior to
joining the Mariners in August of 2007. The 5-11, 210 lb left-hander is a
career 12-12 with a 4.63 ERA in 161 games (10 starts).
    KETCHNER, 25, spent 2007 with Portland of the Pacific Coast League in the
San Diego organization. The Wellsville, New York native posted a 1-11 record
with a 5.62 ERA in 19 starts for the Sea Dogs. The 6-1, 190 lb. left-hander
owns a career minor league record of 32-38 with a 3.46 ERA in 146 games
(84 starts).
