Blue Jays make addition at Rule 5 Draft



    TORONTO, Dec. 6 /CNW/ - The TORONTO BLUE JAYS selected RHP RANDY WELLS
from the Chicago Cubs in today's Rule 5 Draft held at the Winter Meetings in
Nashville.
    WELLS, 25, spent the 2007 season with Iowa (AAA) of the Pacific Coast
League. The 6'5", 230 lb., right-hander posted a 5-6 record with a 4.52 ERA in
40 games (nine starts) while striking out 101 batters in 95.2 IP. The native
of Belleville, Illinois has recorded a strikeout per inning, while issuing
only three walks per nine innings over his five year career as a pitcher.
    To make room on the roster, RHP RYAN HOUSTON has been given his outright
release.
