Blue Jays finalize Takahashi contract



    TORONTO, Feb. 6 /CNW/ - The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have finalized the signing
of LHP KEN TAKAHASHI to a minor league contract for the 2009 season, with an
invitation to major league spring training.
    TAKAHASHI, 39, posted an 8-5 record with a 3.50 ERA in 21 games (20
starts) last season, for Hiroshima Toyo Carp of the Nippon Professional
Baseball League in Japan. The 6-0, 198 lb lefthander has spent all 14 seasons
of his career with the Hiroshima, after being selected with the club's 4th
pick in the 1995 draft. The Kanagawa, Japan native is 66-87 lifetime, with a
4.23 ERA in 433 games, including 160 starts.
