announced their new community partnership.
"Bayer Inc. has a longstanding commitment to philanthropy. We are
dedicated to health, education, science and the betterment of the communities

the school year with a number of volunteer activities that we believe will
enrich the lives of both the employees and students."
"We are thrilled to be partnering with Bayer," said Lesa Semcesen,
Principal, NKJMS. "The opportunities to learn from one another and work
together have endless potential."
With this new partnership - the first of its kind for both Bayer and
NKJMS - Bayer employees will have the opportunity to volunteer in a variety of
school programs including the Breakfast Club, which provides a hot,
nutritionally balanced breakfast to about 100 children every morning, the
Lunch Club, a first for the school, as well as one-on-one mentoring and
tutoring where a Bayer employee and a student are partnered for at least one
hour every week.
NKJMS is located in the heart of the Bayer community - just ten minutes
North of our Belfield Rd. Canadian headquarters - and is a home-away-from-home
for 750 students from kindergarten to grade eight. The school is located in a
high need community and faces unique challenges.
About Breakfast for Learning Month
"Breakfast for Learning" was founded in 1992 by the editors of
Canadian Living Magazine to address the needs of hungry children in Canada.
Every September, Breakfast For Learning Month is celebrated across the country
to emphasize the importance of child nutrition.
In order to be active learners children need to be properly nourished.
However; 31 per cent of elementary school children do not eat breakfast
daily (1). Studies have shown that children who have a nutritious breakfast
are able to retrieve information more quickly and accurately, make fewer
errors in problem solving activities and have better concentration(2).
