Bianelle Legros Joins Canadian Olympic Committee as Manager, Athlete Programs



    MONTREAL, June 11 /CNW/ - The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) announced
today that Bianelle Legros will be joining the organization in the position of
Manager, Athlete Programs. Legros will be based in Montreal and will report to
the COC's Director, Athlete and Community Relations, Marc Gélinas, beginning
on June 26.
    "I'm thrilled to be returning to the world of Olympic sport with the
Canadian Olympic Committee," said Legros. "I'm looking forward to once again
working one-on-one with Canada's Olympic athletes to help manage their
corporate portfolios and community appearances as they prepare to compete at
the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in
Vancouver."
    As Manager, Athlete Programs, Legros will provide leadership to the COC's
athlete funding programs including RONA's Growing With Our Athletes, Hbc's Run
for Canada and Petro-Canada's Fuelling Athlete and Coaching Excellence. She
will also manage Olympic Voice and the Performance Recognition Support Program
while providing assistance to the Canadian Olympic Foundation and the COC's
community relations initiatives.
    As part of her duties, Legros will oversee the direction of the COC's two
Program Managers, Athlete & Community Relations and the organization's Program
Coordinator, Athlete and Community Relations.
    "As someone who has a great passion for Olympic sport and who has
extensive experience representing Olympians, Bianelle Legros understands the
needs of high performance athletes," said Gélinas. "With a strong background
in a variety of sectors including athlete management, communications, and
business and partner relations, Bianelle's unique blend of knowledge will be
key in helping us become a greater partner to Canada's Olympic athletes."
    Prior to joining the COC, Legros spent the past 20 months as a Marketing
Coordinator with Casino de Montréal where she was responsible for working with
the organization's corporate partners to manage various events and promotions.
    From 1997 to 2002, Legros held the title of Public Relations and Press
Agent with Sprint Management Inc., a firm specializing in client
representation. During her six years with Sprint Management, Legros managed a
wide range of high performance athletes, including her husband, four-time
Olympian and 1996 Olympic gold medallist Bruny Surin.
    Legros holds a Master's in Business Administration from the Université du
Québec à Montréal.
