Strong August performance marks ninth consecutive month of growth for SCI
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Sept. 3 /CNW/ - Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is pleased to
announce that it has set a new August sales record. Total retails of 1,861
units were up 26.3 percent over last August, and beat the previous August
record, set in 2002, by 319 units. It was also the ninth consecutive month of
sales growth for SCI.
Outstanding sales of the Subaru Impreza reached 913 units, up by
14.3 percent over the same month last year. Sales of Forester also continued
to be robust, with 549 units up by 125.9 percent compared to last August.
Tribeca sales were also up slightly, by 1.7 percent.
"Subaru has the right product at the right time for the evolving
automotive market," said Katsuhiro Yokoyama, president and CEO of SCI. "Owners
are looking for an affordable alternative to gas-guzzling SUVs, but don't want
to give up safety, performance or the confidence of all-wheel drive. Now, we
eagerly await the reaction to the 2009 Impreza lineup, which launches this
month with some exciting innovations and some very competitive pricing."
