Bernard Motulsky is the new holder of the UQAM Chair in Public Relations and Marketing Communications



    MONTREAL, Jan. 30 /CNW Telbec/ - UQAM has announced the appointment of
Bernard Motulsky, Ph.D., a professor in the Social and Public Communications
Department and a communications practitioner and theoretician for many years,
as the new holder of the Chair in Public Relations and Marketing
Communications.

    Bernard Motulsky

    Communications specialist Bernard Motulsky was Director General of the
Communications and Recruitment Division at the Université de Montréal from
1998 to 2006 and Vice-President, Public Affairs at the Montreal Stock Exchange
from 1991 to 1994. He worked as a press attaché in the office of the Minister
of International Affairs in 1990, a political attaché and director of
communications in the office of the Minister of Finance and Privatization from
1987 to 1989, and a communications adviser and associate at Optimum, a
subsidiary of Cossette Communications-Marketing from 1983 to 1987. Since 2005,
he has served as Chair of the Advisory Board of the Autorité des marchés
financiers.
    From 1976 to 1983, Bernard Motulsky taught at Laval University where he
was Director of the Public Relations program. His many publications include
Communication de masse et consommation de masse (Boréal Express, 1975) and Les
relations avec les médias, ou comment améliorer ses relations de presse, in
collaboration with René Vézina (Université de Montréal Web site, 2002). He has
received numerous honours, including a silver Deux Coqs d'argent from the
Publicity Club of Montreal (2001); the 2001 Grand Prize in the Print, Retail
Services category, from the London International Advertising Awards; the Media
Prix Concept award, at the Info-Presse Media Awards Gala (2002); the Cassies
gold award in the Not-for-Profit category and the silveraward in the Sustained
Success category.

    Chair in Public Relations and Marketing Communications

    Founded in 2002 by Danielle Maisonneuve, the Chair in Public Relations
and Marketing Communications contributes to the development of the
communications profession through research, publications, and outreach
activities.
    The Chair's main researchers are:

    
    - Roy Toffoli, professor at the Ecole des Sciences de Gestion, Director
      of the AAPQ-Infopresse Study Centre on Marketing Communications;
    - Pierre Bérubé, Professor in the Social and Public Communications
      Department, Director of the ODESIA Study Centre on New Technologies and
      Public Relations;
    - Danielle Ouellet, Associate Professor in the Social and Public
      Communications Department, Director of the Research Centre in
      Scientific Communications;
    - Bernard Dagenais, Professor at Laval University, Director of the Study
      Centre on Municipal Communications;
    - André Lafrance, Communications Professor at the Université de Montréal,
      specialist in business communications and written communications in the
      Internet Age and in multimedia, Head of the TRANS-COM Research
      Laboratory (trans-cultural communications models), Associate of the
      Chair in Public Relations and Marketing Communications;
    - Solange Tremblay, Associate Professor in the Social and Public
      Communications Department, Study Centre on Social Responsibility,
      Sustainable Development and Ethics;
    - Michel Dumas, Associate Professor in the Social and Public
      Communications Department, Enzyme Innovation Centre;
    - Louis Dussault, Protocol Study Centre.
    

    Supported by numerous partners, primarily in the communications industry,
the Chair incorporates several other study centres, including the Lise
Chartier Press Analysis Laboratory, the NATIONAL Study Centre on the Public
Relations Industry, and the CNW Telbec Study Centre on Press Relations.
