Aeroplan to help them expand and diversify their customer loyalty rewards
programs. Aeroplan has deployed a service-oriented architecture (SOA) solution
with BEA WebLogic(R) Integration and BEA AquaLogic(R) Commerce Services in an
effort to help facilitate new partnerships and to provide a more compelling
online customer experience. BEA technologies power Aeroplan's internet
storefront and help enhance their members' shopping experience by making it
quicker and easier to book flights and redeem rewards.

BEA technologies help enhance the effectiveness of Aeroplan's Website
through a search engine optimization system that simplifies search engine
rankings by delivering the best possible matches to customers' queries. BEA
AquaLogic Commerce Services creates dynamic product pages that guide customers
from the search engine to the correct page of interest and then through the
purchasing process. The storefront features a personalized, intuitive shopping
cart that has cross-sell and up-sell capabilities designed to anticipate and
exceed customers' expectations.
Powered by BEA AquaLogic Commerce Services technology, Aeroplan members
now have access to fast and easy, self-serve reward redemption. They can view,
calculate and redeem their Aeroplan Miles for rewards in real-time; manage
their profile online; view their order status and history and save items in
their shopping cart to purchase at a later date. Aeroplan can now also
accommodate the unique lifestyles of its growing membership by increasing the
number of ways members can earn reward miles and by expanding the variety and
diversity of rewards.
In addition, BEA WebLogic Integration is designed to bring together
transactional applications, multiple data sources, applications from mileage
and rewards partners and more than 50 Web services. BEA WebLogic Integration
helps orchestrate the interaction between these systems and applications,
facilitates the timely and reliable movement of messages across the
infrastructure and helps to ensure that Web services can be invoked and
consumed as necessary to support customer queries and transactions. Examples
of Web services supported by BEA WebLogic Integration include "mileage
