BC's Best Communicators Recognized at the 2008 IABC/BC Bronze Quill Awards Gala



    VANCOUVER, June 10 /CNW/ - The stars of British Columbia's communications
industry were recognized at The 2008 IABC/BC Bronze Quill Awards Gala on
Thursday, June 5 at FigMint Restaurant & Lounge. The Gala event acknowledged
13 exceptional individuals in the communications industry in eight different
categories.
    The red carpet event was hosted by CTV News' Chris Olsen and celebrated
the outstanding work of communications professionals in BC.
    A total of five Awards for Excellence in communication management were
presented: Michael Davis of Reputations Corporation for his work in Government
Relations; Linda Bilben, also of Reputations Corporation for her work in
Strategic Management Process; the Law Society of BC's Brad Daisley, on behalf
of the Lawyers Insurance Fund, for his efforts in Issues Management and Crisis
Communication; Ben Hudson of Mountain Equipment Co-op and Susan Thom of BC
Housing for their respective work in Special Events - Internal or External.
    Simon Fraser University student, Arthur Yee, also won the IABC Student
Communicator of the Year award; for his co-operative education semester
working with AIDS Vancouver. In addition, the event paid tribute to the
dedication of two IABC/BC volunteers. Glenn Knowles received the 2007-2008
IABC/BC President's Award: Volunteer of the Year and Fiona Youatt the
2007-2008 President's Award: Outstanding New Volunteer.
