BCE receives final regulatory approval



    MONTREAL, June 23 /CNW Telbec/ - BCE confirmed that it has received today
written confirmation from Industry Canada that all of the conditions set forth
in its Decision of April 8, 2008, approving the proposed acquisition of BCE by
an investor group led by Teachers' Private Capital, the private investment arm
of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, Providence Equity Partners Inc.,
Madison Dearborn Partners, LLC, and Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity, have
now been fulfilled. Industry Canada's approval of the transaction is effective
as of June 20, 2008.
    Given the receipt of the final approval of the Canadian Radio-television
and Telecommunications Commission, all regulatory approvals required in
connection with the proposed transaction have now been obtained.
