ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill., June 5 /CNW/ -- Bang & Olufsen, the Danish
provider of exclusive high quality audio and video products, is pleased to
announce its 50 -inch plasma TV and home cinema solution will now feature the
revolutionary Automatic Colour Management technology. Developed by Bang &
Olufsen exclusively for its large plasma TVs, the patented Automatic Colour
Management ensures an improved picture performance and delivers rich, natural
colors throughout the lifespan of the plasma screens.
"We are very eager to extend our Automatic Colour Management technology
to our flagship plasma and renowned home entertainment solution, BeoVision 9",
states Zean Nielsen, President of Bang & Olufsen America, Inc. "With its
digital surround sound capabilities, integrated loudspeaker featuring an
acoustic lens, full high definition picture quality, and now Automatic Colour
Management, we believe BeoVision 9 will set a new standard in home theater
offerings and provide our customers the quintessential sound and picture
Automatic Colour Management adjusts the color temperature of the plasma
screen to compensate for the effects of phosphor aging, which over time,
causes a shift in the white level -- resulting in an increasingly yellow
picture. Upon activation, a short robotic arm swings down from the upper part
of the frame. A miniature camera is located at the end of the arm, which
analyzes a test picture on the screen. The color temperature in the white and
black areas is measured and then adjusted to ensure correct color balance,
even after thousands of hours of use. Automatic Colour Management is routinely
activated after every 120 hours of use, but can also be activated manually.
Additionally, BeoVision 9, adjusts brightness, color and contrast picture
settings according to its placement and the lighting conditions in the room.
Through an optical sensor on the top of the frame, BeoVision 9 measures
ambient room lighting then automatically dims or brightens itself to deliver
the optimal viewing experience for those conditions.
BeoVision 9 with Automatic Colour Management will be available in July
2008 in silver frame/silver speaker cover and silver frame/black speaker cover
combinations. Additional color options for the frame include red, blue, black
and dark grey and will be available late summer 2008.
