Harper Government eliminates hundreds of Quebec and Ontario jobs
Workers from Quebec, South West Ontario descend on Ottawa to protest
against job loss.

Union (BCTGM) is demonstrating in front of Prime Minister
Harper's office to demand amendments to Bill C-32 to protect
the livelihood of hundreds of Canadian families.

Bill C-32 is overly broad because it bans the manufacture, sale, import
and export of legitimate blended cigarettes like Gitanes and Gauloises in
Rothmans, Benson & Hedges (RBH) imports the tobacco it uses to
manufacture its blended products from the U.S., Mexico, France, Brazil and
Argentina. Therefore the Bill likely violates numerous International trade
laws and agreements.
More importantly however, if this bill is enacted, production at RBH's
Quebec plant will be seriously curtailed. This may cost the jobs of 300 people
