LONGUEUIL, QC, May 11 /CNW Telbec/ - With the completion of the
Baie-des-Sables, L'Anse-à-Valleau and Carleton wind farms, Cartier Wind Energy
has invested a total of more than $500 million since 2006 resulting in
significant regional economic benefits to the Gaspé Peninsula, the MRC of
Matane region and the province of Québec. Of that, Cartier Wind Energy spent

Cartier Wind Energy issued the numbers following its submittal to
Hydro-Québec Distribution of the final report on the L'Anse-à-Valleau project.
The report shows that the project generated economic benefits of 53 per cent
of the total wind farm costs within the designated region and 65 per cent
within Quebec. This means that nearly $102 million was spent in the designated
region and more than $125 million was spent in Québec. The requirement for the
L'Anse-à-Valleau project was that 40 per cent of the total development and
construction costs had to be spent in the designated region.

Cartier Wind Energy, headquartered in Longueuil, won 739.5 megawatts (MW)
in wind energy projects in Hydro-Québec Distribution's first wind energy call
for tenders for projects that will be developed between 2006 and 2012. Cartier
Wind Energy is a partnership of TransCanada Corporation and Innergex Power
Income Fund for the Baie-des-Sables and L'Anse-à-Valleau wind farms, and a
partnership of TransCanada Corporation and Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. for
the other wind farms under the first call for tenders.
