BACARDI serves a "slice of the funky life" with a free B-LIVE concert

BACARDI announces talent line-up for Toronto stop of International Music
    Festival

TORONTO, Oct. 11 /CNW/ - The largest spirit-sponsored music festival in
the world, the BACARDI B-LIVE tour, makes its Toronto stop on November 3rd
with a spectacular free concert event that features top international talent.
BACARDI is bringing in leading worldwide DJs James Murphy (LCD
Soundystem, DFA) and Diplo to perform with local artist, Nasty Nav. Together
they will deliver eclectic music through a live performance that is exclusive
to the tour.
Building on the successful 25-country music festival, the Toronto event
reinforces Bacardi rum's commitment to bring a variety of musical styles,
sounds and experiences to local audiences. Those of legal drinking age will
enjoy a unique vibe at BACARDI B-LIVE - complete with a custom live video
remix, thunderous sound system and fully-stocked BACARDI rum and mojito
cocktail bars serving signature drinks custom-mixed for the event.
To add to the spirit of the occasion, the legendary artists will share
the stage for the first time in an exhilarating performance at the original
printing facilities of the Globe & Mail, now known as The Toronto School of
Circus Arts, which will be completely transformed for this tour stop. Acrobats
and performers from the Circus' training centre will wow audiences by
performing theatrical, gravity defying manoeuvres overhead of the pulsating
crowd.
"BACARDI B-LIVE is about fantastic music and creating something unique
and different for people to experience. It's not to be missed," says Steve
Sadoff, Brand Manager - Rums, Bacardi Canada Inc. "It's also a great way to
support Canada's most accomplished musical talent while bringing in new
international sounds for Torontonians to enjoy."

    An Outstanding Line-up
    ----------------------
Showcasing the latest DJ trends in electronic, dance and rock mash-up,
BACARDI B-LIVE will feature:

    - James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem, DFA)
LCD Soundsystem is, first and foremost, a dance-rock party album full
of sounds and grooves. But, as you would expect from the composer of
Losing My Edge, it's also got plenty of great lyrics, smart themes,
sarcastic themes and good jokes. LCD Soundsystem is a slice of funky
life that holds that intelligence is not something to be suspicious
of, but aspired to -- as long as it doesn't get in the way of
throwing yourself around a dance floor like a big, sweaty fool, of
        course.

    - Diplo
One thing is for sure - Diplo cannot be accused is being afraid to
experiment with new music. With his mash-up mixtapes, he found and
created a sound where his musical tastes -- '80s pop, electronica,
Dirty South hip-hop, and his major influence, Miami bass music --
intersect. His attention-grabbing projects Hollertronix, with partner
DJ Low Budget, and the Piracy Funds Terrorism, Vol. 1 mixtape, with
elusive British-Sri Lankan MC M.I.A., made a heavy impact on the
alternative electro-pop scene, amassing him rave reviews from music
critics and the like, including Spin magazine, which named him DJ of
        the Year in 2005.

    - Nasty Nav
Nasty Nav has been rocking Toronto dance floors for over 10 years.
While his first musical endeavors involved playing bass guitar for
local Toronto punk and indie rock bands, Nav also fell victim to a
serious love for vinyl early on. You can hear the years of record
collecting and DJing in his sets, making forgotten club classics
sound fresh again alongside current upfront electro, house, techno,
and grimey club bangers. Today, you can find him behind the decks on
some of Toronto's finest sound systems. Nav also runs Canada's
longest running DJ record shop, Play De Record in downtown Toronto.
He is currently making lots of noise in the studio and is set to
launch his own imprint, Nastymix Records, later this fall.
