Axia Provides Comment on Australian Federal Government Announcement

CALGARY, June 18 /CNW/ - The Federal Government of Australia made an
announcement earlier today with respect to their Broadband Connect program.
In response to questions about the implications of this announcement,
Axia's Chairman and CEO Art Price made the following comments:
"Axia's focus in Australia has been to work with state governments to
offer state-wide Open Access Real Broadband(TM) services. Axia made proposals
to the Broadband Connect program to provide the Federal Government the
opportunity to coordinate their program with state initiatives. The Australia
Government has chosen to not link the Broadband Connect program to state level
initiatives. However, Axia will continue to pursue the state level
initiatives."
Mr. Price added, "Axia's approach maximizes the use of existing assets
and to the extent that, as a consequence of the Broadband Connect program,
some additional assets or Real Broadband services are made available to Axia,
they would be incorporated into its proposals."

Axia plans, designs, operates and develops Real Broadband(TM)
ultra-high-performance, open access model networks that give fragmented and
under-served geographies access to limitless IP connectivity and provides
services on any network. Axia trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the
symbol "AXX". For more information, visit its website at www.axia.com.
