DALLAS, Jan. 20 /CNW/ -- ATERAS, a leading provider of 100% automated
solutions for legacy migration and modernization, announced today that a large
State Agency has chosen ATERAS to complete an enterprise-wide Assessment and
to convert initial Adabas Natural applications to COBOL CICS DB2.
ATERAS uses DB-Shuttle(TM) automation technology for the Assessment and
Conversion of the Databases, Data and Applications. The first phase is the
Assessment which is a very detailed, targeted research and analysis of the
entire mainframe application environment. Components are classified and listed
in detail. All application components are inventoried and classified by
language. The Assessment results in a complete understanding of the current
Adabas Natural environment. After completion of the automated Assessment,
ATERAS will provide a turn-key solution that will include the conversion of
the data, databases, and application software.
The process will include 100% automated conversion with no required code
freeze. In addition, the applications and databases will be 100% functionally
equivalent including the retention of all business rules. No proprietary
libraries, third party libraries or other software will be required to run,
use or maintain the applications after the conversion. Due to the high level
of automation, ATERAS' rules-based conversions meet the technical and business
requirements of the customer with dramatically shorter conversion times. The
end result is a quality solution with an n-tier architecture that is easy to
maintain and that has high performance in the new environment.
The business reasons for this agency to migrate their Adabas Natural
environment to a relational one is the need to move to IBM's DB2 technology,
eliminating the high cost of Adabas licensing and maintenance fees; and the
need for greater agility at delivering new information services.
Over the years, ATERAS has successfully provided automated solutions for
legacy migration and modernization of other global non-relational customer
sites to DB2, SQL Server and Oracle technologies. The migrations of mission
critical systems included customers in the following markets: state
governments, insurance, financial sector, healthcare and universities.
"This contract further demonstrates that our Adabas modernization
solutions remain very attractive in this economic climate. Our value
proposition is exceptional. We are encouraged as we see many more global
enterprises coming to ATERAS to reduce increased license fees and convert
their Adabas Natural Applications to more open technologies such as DB2,
Oracle and SQL Server. The case for automated conversions with ATERAS has
never been stronger," said Scott Miller, CEO President ATERAS.
ATERAS has supported global enterprises for 26 years, offering state of
the art services to our clients by modernizing and migrating legacy systems to
the most current IT environments. The patent-pending DB-Shuttle(TM) automation
technology provides everything from comprehensive assessments of existing IT
environments to fully automated conversions. www.ateras.com.
