Virgin Radio 999 and 97.3 EZ Rock show positive growth
TORONTO, May 28 /CNW/ - Based on a comparison of commercial market share
using the S2 2008 BBM ratings period to S2 2009, Astral Media Radio Toronto
Stations have grown in hours tuned against Adults 18-54 (commercial central
market) from a 19% share to 20.5%.
While CFRB is stable at 3.5 share of hours tuned, Virgin Radio 999 which
launched in August 2008, is up from 7.2 to 8.4. This represents a whopping 17%
increase from a year ago when the station was known as Mix 99.9. The recently
refreshed 97.3 EZRock made positive gains as well moving from 8.2 to 8.6.
Astral Media Radio's Toronto FM stations continue to gather momentum as a
result of some key strategic moves in both programming and positioning of the
radio stations by the company.
"We have been working hard on our radio products to ensure we're bringing
the best in radio entertainment to Toronto audiences. It's exciting to see
them respond to the changes we've made and to see the trends moving in the
right direction" says Martin Tremblay, Programming Director for Astral Media
Radio's Toronto stations. "This positive news is just the beginning. We will
never stop trying to improve and innovate for our listeners. Our team at
