ASC Seeking Permanent Cease Trade Order Against Ian Gregory Thow

    CALGARY, March 5 /CNW/ - The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) has
scheduled a hearing for March 20, 2008 to consider whether to impose a
reciprocal order against Ian Gregory Thow related to his sanction in British
Columbia.
    In the Notice of Hearing, ASC staff seek a permanent ban against Thow
from acting as a registrant, investment fund manager or promoter and from
being an officer or director of any issuer. Further, that he permanently cease
trading in securities and be permanently denied the use of exemptions. On
December 20, 2007, the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC)
permanently prohibited Thow from acting as a director or officer of any issuer
and from trading in securities or using exemptions in British Columbia. The
BCSC order was based on findings that Thow had:

    - solicited Canadian residents to invest funds in various securities
        including, short-term construction loans, shares of National
        Commercial Bank of Jamaica Limited and an initial public offering of
        Berkshire Investment Group Inc.;

    - made false or misleading representations of material facts about
        these investment opportunities;

    - traded in securities without being registered to do so; and

    -   perpetrated a fraud.

    ASC staff alleges that between 2003 and 2005 some of Thow's activities
involved Alberta residents.
    A copy of the Notice of Hearing is available on the ASC website at
