ASC grants recognition to the Natural Gas Exchange

CALGARY, Oct. 9 /CNW/ - The Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) has
granted recognition to the Natural Gas Exchange (NGX) to operate as an
Exchange and Clearing Agency.
The ASC has determined that granting recognition better suits the
regulation and oversight of NGX as the exchange's business has evolved and
grown over the past 15 years of operation in Alberta. Since 1993, NGX has
operated an electronic trading system and an electronic clearing system, in
accordance with the terms and conditions of a series of exemptive relief
orders granted by the ASC.
A copy of the Exchange and Clearing Agency recognition orders can be
found at www.albertasecurities.com.

The ASC is the regulatory agency responsible for administering the
province's securities laws. It is entrusted to foster a fair and efficient
capital market in Alberta and to protect investors. As a member of the
Canadian Securities Administrators, the ASC works to improve, coordinate and
harmonize the regulation of Canada's capital markets.
