Appointments to the Trois-Rivières Port Authority



    OTTAWA, March 4 /CNW Telbec/ - The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister
of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointments
of Mr. Alain Bolduc, Mr. François Dupuis, and Mr. Cléo Marchand to the board
of directors of the Trois-Rivières Port Authority.
    "I am very pleased that these experienced individuals have agreed to take
on these new responsibilities," said Minister Cannon. "Their strong ties to
the community and professional backgrounds will be of great benefit to the
board of directors."
    Mr. Alain Bolduc holds a civil law degree from the University of Ottawa,
and a certificate in international private law from The Hague Academy of
International Law (Netherlands). He is a member of the Quebec Bar and has
practiced law since 1988. He is currently a partner and vice-president of
Joli-Coeur, Lacasse, Geoffrion, Jetté, St-Pierre in Trois-Rivières. He
specializes in business law and fiscal litigation. Mr. Bolduc has been
appointed to the Trois-Rivières Port Authority for a term of three years.
    Mr. François Dupuis obtained a diploma as a certified management
accountant, a diploma from the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec, a master
of taxation degree and a diploma in business administration from the
University of Sherbrooke. He has worked with chartered accountancy firms in
Trois-Rivières since 1988, and in Montreal and Sherbrooke, from 1985 to 1988.
He is a member of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec and is a frequent
speaker at conferences dealing with taxation. Mr. Dupuis has been appointed to
the Trois-Rivières Port Authority for a term of three years.
    Mr. Cléo Marchand holds a diploma in secretarial administration from the
Centre des études universitaires de Trois-Rivières, and a bachelor's degree in
business administration from the Université du Québec. He is a member of the
Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec since 1973. He has been a professor of
accounting at the Université du Québec at Trois-Rivières since 2002, and has
worked in various roles with the university since 1974. He previously worked
for Price Waterhouse and Associates as an auditor and financial planner.
Mr. Marchand is a past member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered
Accountants. Mr. Marchand has been appointed to the Trois-Rivières Port
Authority for a term of three years.

    The Trois-Rivières Port Authority is a Canada Port Authority (CPA)
established under the Canada Marine Act on May 1, 1999, to manage the Port of
Trois-Rivières. As a CPA, the Port Authority benefits from greater management
flexibility, including increased freedom to develop contracts and borrow money
from commercial lenders.
    The Port of Trois-Rivières offers an extensive range of facilities and
services to marine industries. Its facilities and its strategic location
between Montreal and Quebec on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River play
an important role in national and regional shipping activities. Open year
round, the port handles a variety of products including grain, alumina, pulp
and paper, and steel.
