OTTAWA, March 4 /CNW Telbec/ - The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister
of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment
of Mr. Mario Girard of Saint-Nicolas, Quebec, to the board of directors of the
Quebec Port Authority for a term of three years.
"I am very pleased that Mr. Girard has agreed to serve on the board of
the Quebec Port Authority," said Minister Cannon. "His experience in business
will be a significant asset to the board."
Mr. Girard is a graduate of Université Laval. He has worked in
information technology for a number of years and founded two companies: Gespro
Technologies, which he established in 1985 and sold to TELUS in 2001, and
Nstein Technologies, of which he was president and chief executive officer
from 2001 to 2007. He has acquired considerable international experience,
having developed markets and acquired businesses in several countries. He was
recently appointed president and director general of the Fondation de
l'entrepreneurship du Québec. An active member of the community, he is
vice-president of the Fondation Toujours Ensemble, an organization that
encourages students to remain in school, and is a member of the board of
directors of the Festival international d'été de Québec.
The Quebec Port Authority is the Canada Port Authority (CPA) established
under the Canada Marine Act on May 1, 1999, to manage the Port of Quebec. As a
CPA, the Quebec Port Authority benefits from greater management flexibility,
