Appointment to Ridley Terminals Inc.



    OTTAWA, Oct. 15 /CNW Telbec/ - The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister
of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment
of Mr. David F.H. Parker to the board of directors of Ridley Terminals Inc.
    "I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Parker," said
Minister Cannon. "His experience in business, economic development and
provincial government will be a tremendous asset to the company."
    Mr. Parker holds a bachelor of science in forestry from the University of
British Columbia. His career in the wood industry began in 1966, from which
time he held various management and consulting roles until 1986, when he was
elected member of the British Columbia Legislative Assembly. During his five
years of public service, Mr. Parker served as Minister of Forests and Lands,
and then as Minister of Lands and Parks and Minister of State for Economic
Development for Northwestern BC. Mr. Parker returned to forestry consultancy
in 1991, and is currently owner of Aquaterre Project Services Ltd., providing
forest management and planning, engineering and logistical support services.
Mr. Parker has been appointed to serve on the Ridley Terminals Inc. board of
directors for a term of three years.

    Ridley Terminals Inc. (RTI) is located on Ridley Island in Prince Rupert,
British Columbia, at the end of Canadian National Rail's northern line. RTI is
a federal Crown Corporation which owns and operates a bulk handling terminal
for the efficient and reliable movement of coal and other bulk commodities
from trains on to ships. The terminal was built in 1984 to provide an export
point for vast reserves of different grades of coal in northeastern BC.
