MONTREAL, Sept. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - Bernard Lamarre, President of the
Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA), announced the appointment of Nathalie
Bondil as Museum Director for a three-year mandate. Ms. Bondil had been
serving as Interim Director since January 2007. "The Museum's Board of
Trustees unanimously ratified the appointment of Ms. Bondil as Director of the
MMFA, a position she has assumed with vision, professionalism and enthusiasm,"
declared Mr. Lamarre. Ms. Bondil has become the first woman to head the
Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the ninth director in the history of this
great Montreal cultural institution. Born in Provence (France) in 1967, Ms.
Bondil, who has made Montreal her home, is now a Canadian citizen. She arrived
in Montreal in 1999 to take up the position of Curator of European Art
(1800-1945) at the MMFA and was named Chief Curator in 2000, a position she
will continue to assume in parallel to her functions as Museum Director.
